He was predeceased by: his wife Lois; and his son Keith. He is survived by: his children, Ken Thiel (Margi Ann) of Virginia, Vicky Harrington (Dennis) of Nashwauk, Mark Thiel (Beth Carlson) of Embarrass, Brenda Kilpela (John) of Makinen and Stacy Thiel (Jeff Lackner) of Virginia. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
