He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Opatz and Theresa Opatz (Heitzman); his great grandchild Bryce Baker; his siblings, Edward, George, Rita Venske (Curt), Delores Newcomb (Red), Mary Ann Wilson (Jim), Jack, LeRoy (Mary Jo), Lorraine Hoffman (Lyle) and Darlene Burski; and his sister-in-law Delores (Ruth Opatz).
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Studniski of John's Abbey Church; his children, Timothy of Dassel, Tanya Baker (Tim) of Eagan and Terri Johnson (Randy) of Emily; his grandchildren, Melissa Erlandson (Andy), Mitch (Brittney) and Mikayla Opatz; his children, Charley, Sam (Karissa), Jack Baker, Trista Kociemba, Tasha Curtis (Isaac) and Lexi Johnson; his great grandchildren, Rylan, Owen and Wyatt Erlandson; his grandchildren, Vayda, Vince, Valorie Opatz, Brady, Logan Baker, Hailey, Haiden Kociemba, Lindsay, Allyson and Baya Curtis; his great great grandchild Lanie St. Onge; his siblings, Lloyd, Eugene and Judy Rossel; and his sisters-in-law, Elaine and Jane. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 10:00 AM at 15 Feb Visitation St., Benedict's Catholic. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Benedict's Catholic Church (212 1st St SW, Avon, MN 56310).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
