He was predeceased by: his parents, Benedict Schmid and Lauretta Schmid (Ashenbrenner); and his siblings, Elaine Saccoman, Charles Schmid and Thomas Schmid.
He is survived by: his wife Florence "Bobbie" of Avon; his children, Thomas Schmid (Karen Friedl) of Anchorage, AK, Sheila Ketcham (Matthew) of Independence, Heidi Schmid (Paul Pearson) of St. Cloud, Laura Schmid-Tyler (Steven) of Cumberland, WI and David Schmid (Angela Ciliberto) of Orono; and his grandchildren, Gabriel, Audrey and Lucy Ketcham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
