He is survived by: his former wife Joyce Heard (Mikkelson); his wife Dianne Chaperon; his children, Walter Schmidt (Pam) of Austin, Mariah Chaperon (Jeffrey Roberts) of Cresson, TX and Molli Larson (Kyle) of Pine Island; his brothers, Ray Schmidt of Austin and Roger Schmidt of Mankato; his nieces and nephews, Dan, Kevin Schmidt, Alison Schmidt and Suzie Law; his grandchildren, Liah, Leann, Skylar, Taylar, Alexis, Kyle Jr., Luke Walter and Blaine; and his great grandchildren, Jacey and Brayden.
