He was predeceased by: his mother Marilyn Newman (Joseph); and his sister Mary Thompson (Greg). He is survived by: his wife Debra "Deb" Newman of Austin, Minnesota; his father John "Jack" Newman of Austin, Minnesota; his children, Vanessa Miller (Mark) of Blooming Prairie, Tiffany Newman of Onalaska, Ashley Newman of Austin, Minnesota and Jordan Newman of Austin, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Avery, Sierra, Emma and Olivia; and his siblings, Becky Rector (Gary), Bill Newman (Joanne) and Glenn Newman (Babs). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
