He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Johnson and Beatrice Johnson (Underdahl); his former wife Elizabeth Johnsrud; his parents-in-law, Arthur and Delores Jensen; his sisters, Delores Hemmingway and Eleanor Iverson; and his brothers-in-law, Dale Jensen, Harley Jensen and Chuck Harty.

He is survived by: his former wife Marlene Schewe; his wife Shirley Johnson of Austin, MN; his sons, Lowell Johnson (LaVonne) of Austin, MN, Maurice Johnson (Star) of Austin, MN and Brian Johnson (Janet) of Austin, MN; his stepchildren, Lori Singewald (Ron) of Albert Lea, MN and Randy Wrolson (Kathleen) of Albert Lea, MN; his grandchildren, Jamie Johnson (Sarah) of Austin, MN, Shayna Renchin (Kyle) of Austin, MN, Dustin Tschann of Austin, MN, Nicole Christianson of Albert Lea, MN, Bridgette Trimble of Austin, MN, Casey Merten (Peter) of Austin, MN, Heather Johnson of Austin, MN and Brandy Halsne (Derek) of Mason City, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Harty, Kathy Halverson (Ernie), Jerry Hemmingway, John Jensen (Bernice), Donald Jensen (Georgian), George Jensen (Val) and Melvin Iverson. He is also survived by 7 step-grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren.

Memorials are preferred to Moscow Lutheran Church with Military Honors.
