He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Giere and Laura Giere (Foldoe); and his daughter Bridget Elaine Giere. He is survived by: his wife Marilee (Schambureck); and his children, Shannon and Kyle (Alex). He is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
