He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna and Otto E.; and his brother Richard. He is survived by: his wife Luella; his daughter Deanne; his son-in-law Christopher Weber of Northfield; his grandchildren, Anna and Thomas Weber; his brother Leslie Zibell (Julie) of Lake City; and his nephew John. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, St. Olaf College, or the Ramsey County Historical Society.
