He was predeceased by: his parents, Adam Schaf and Eileen Schaf (Gilbertson); his brothers, Glen and Phillip; and his grandson Hunter Moen.
He is survived by: his significant other Jackie Whitters; his close friend Jackie Whitters of Fairhaven; his children, Don Schaf of Mandan, ND, Tammy French (Jason) of West Concord, MN, Scott Whitters (Stephanie) of St. Cloud, Nick Schaf of Fairhaven and Becky Dominie (Steve) of West Concord; his grandchildren, Samantha, Luke, Brett, Chaz, Lexi, James, Jayde, Maverick, Morgan, Skyler, Sequoia, Aiyanna and Cheyton; and his siblings, David, Jim (Carmen), Dan (Tammy), Robert Schaf (Jeanette), Jane Heide (Robert), Carol Rosinski and Nancy Leingang (Dale). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel (305 Park St E, Annandale, MN 55302). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Thursday, May 15th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the North Dakota State Veterans Cemetery (1825 46th St, Mandan, ND 58554).
