He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilhelm Kuhnau and Cleo Kuhnau (Atz); his wife Karen Lou Johnson; his siblings, Glen Kuhnau, Don Kuhnau, Bill Kuhnau, Darrell Kuhnau, Roger Kuhnau and Carol Kuhnau; his siblings-in-law, Robert Rydberg, Elmer Koerner, Harold Johnson, Donald Johnson, Patty Kuhnau, Allyn Kuhnau, Evelyn Koerner, Bertha Johnson and Char Johnson; his nephew Brent Kuhnau; his great-nephew Ryan Rydberg; and his nieces, Tamara Kuhnau, Sheri Major and Wendy Kuhnau.
He is survived by: his daughters, Connie Nelson (Mike) and Brenda Shane (Scott); his grandchildren, Rachel Kelley (Colin), Jacob Shane, Bennett Shane (Emma), Sarah Shane (Elijah Zuehlke), Payton Bleess and Zoey Bleess; his siblings, Bob Kuhnau (Mary), Earl Kuhnau, Vic Kuhnau, Doug Kuhnau (Birdie), Paul Kuhnau, Dee Rydberg, Myrt Schmidt, Judi Kuhnau, Kathi Causley (Angus) and Barb Chan; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Johnson, Lowell Raatz (Joyce), Lois Johnson and Erna Johnson.
Serving as urn bearers will be Jacob Shane, Bennett Shane, Colin Kelly, Elijah Zuehlke, In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lutheran Island Camp.
