We bid farewell to Casey J. DeJong (Alexandria, Minnesota), whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 13, 2025 at the age of 94. Casey touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelis DeJong and Wilhelmina DeJong (Veldhuizen); his siblings, Rolland DeJong (Rita), Geraldine Roetman (Stan) and Jeanette Hanenburg (Ted); his brothers-in-law, David Elson and Jim Schroeder; his nephews, Scott Roetman, Terry Hanenburg and Bryon Schroeder; and also, Arnold and Emma Schroeder.
He is survived by: his wife Jan of Morristown; his children, Leisa Smith (Nevin) of Alexandria, Tina DeJong of Dassel, Craig DeJong (Carol) of Glenwood and Mitch DeJong (Valerie) of St. Paul; his grandchildren, Brandon Smith (Amy) of West Fargo, Brenna Fogus (Tim) of Little Elm, Jordan Smith (Rachel) of Maple Grove, Brandee DeJong of Murray, David DeJong (Kala) of Sacramento, Meggie Bjertness (Ben) of Moorhead, Leo Tessman of Dassel, Emma Jo Tessman of Dassel, Jade and Allie Lent of Glenwood; his great grandchildren, Brody, Beckett, Bridger Smith, Kacey Fogus, Summer, Ivy Smith, Olivia, Coleton Mutchler and Rowan Bjertness; his siblings, Harris DeJong (Diane) and Donna Elson of Lake Villa, Illinois; his sister-in-law Lyn Schroeder of Bagley; and also, John Schroeder (Patsy) of Apple Valley and Jolene Schmidtke of Savage. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (300 Lake St, Alexandria, MN 56308).
