He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Chavez and Antonia Chavez (Martinez); his former wife Elaine Barnes; his daughter Linda; his grandson Christopher Chavez; his siblings, Tim, Barney, Mike, Joe Chavez, Stella Chavez, Priscilla Alcala and Julia Broyles; and his half-brothers, Jesse, Andrew and John.
He is survived by: his wife Anne Studier Jergenson; his children, Tonette Carmeli (Tony) of Shoreview, MN. and Jeffrey Chavez (Darla); his brother Pete Chavez of Wichita Falls, Texas; his son-in-law Gary Quam of Blaine, MN.; and his grandchildren, Troy, Jodi, Judd and Mandy. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins.
