He was predeceased by: his parents, Antonio Garza and Saragoza Garza (Flores); his siblings, Ray Mendez, Rosa Mendez, Jesse Mendez and Tony Garza; and his brother-in-law Fidel Leal.
He is survived by: his wife Susie Garza; his children, Robert Garza Jr., Nellie Garza (Michael Anderson) and Michelle Romero (Silvio); his grandchildren, Desiray Ortiz (Miguel), Jordan Lozano, Devon Olson (Mike) and Lizette Gonzalez; his great grandchildren, Lorayna Ortiz (Alec Schorn), Elliot Ortiz, Oliver Ortiz and Walker Olson; and his siblings, Joe Mendez, Leonor Leal and Richard Garza (Gloria). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
