He was predeceased by: his parents, Jens M. Petersen and Jacobina Petersen (Nielsen); his siblings, Dennise Nielsen, Axel, Harry (Pat) and Robert Petersen; and his son James Baker.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann of Albert Lea; his son Michael Baker (Shaunna) of Brodhead, KY; his grandchildren, Patricia Peek (Kevin) of Albert Lea, Randall Petersen (Lynn) of Mason City, IA, Trisha Ellis (Christopher) of Avon, IN, Ryan Baker of Westfield, IN, Taylor Peek (Dillon Stane) of Harlan, IA, Natalie Peek of Albert Lea, Ethan Peek of Anchorage, AK, Eric Richey (Amy) of Gretna, NE, Adam Richey (Jessica) of Kensett, IA, Ashlyn Petersen of Mason City, IA and Brandon Petersen (Kaytlyn Smith) of Carpenter, IA; and his sister-in-law Marcia Petersen. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN and the Alzheimer's Association.
