He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Francis "Frank" and Mary Gertrude "Gert" Lair (Carey); his wife Verliss Delphine Lofthus; his sons, James Richard "Jim" Lair and Dennis Allen "Denny" Lair; his daughter-in-law Linda Lair (Lubke); and his siblings, Gertrude Eileen Hengesteg (Lair), Helen Maxine Lair, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Martinson (Lair), Margaret Genevieve "Margie" MacKay (Lair), William Webster "Bussy" Lair and Francis Leo "Fritz" Lair.

He is survived by: his children, Jerry Lair (Anita) of Rochester, Tom Lair (Valerie) of Albert Lea, Mark Lair (Audrey) of Ames, Loren Lair (Jane) of Hayward and Linda Radue (Jay) of Prior Lake; his daughter-in-law Kay Lair; his grandchildren, Lori Lair, Scott Lair (Brinda), Amy Rediske (James), Kevin Lair (Jen) and Kristin Peterson (Erik) of Todd; his great grandchildren, Jeramiah Rediske, Ethan, Jonah Lair, Lucas, Bennett Peterson, Blake DePagter, Kennedy, Brooklyn Salm, Easton Radue, Presley, Shay Klingson, Haley, Tyler Harms, Jordan Langer, Bradley and Nicolas Derck; and his sister-in-law Darleen Lee (Kenneth).
