He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Hamilton and Lillie Hamilton (Duncan); his wife Arliss Jean Wyant; and his siblings, Mary Jane Archer, Evel Lee DuBose, Lorene Jones, Allene Beard, Ruby Giles, John Hamilton, Herbert Hamilton and Claude Hamilton.
He is survived by: his children, James "Robert" Hamilton of Cedar Falls and Sandra Hamilton of Albert Lea, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Ashley Goodman, Morgan Uhlenhopp and Skylar Herbsleb; and his sister Sue Crosby of Wetumpka, AL. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
