He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Welter and Mary Welter (Williams); his son Christopher; his in-laws, Clarence and Elizabeth Marshall; his brothers, Joseph Welter, Frederick Welter and Michael Welter; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Stang, Leon Flesner, Marie Welter, Joann, Walter Griepentrog, Charles Marshall and Clarence Marshall, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Maryann Welter; his children, Michelle Aretz (Hank), Peter Welter (Joyce), Patrick Welter (Kathy), Ann Harveaux (Chris) and Mary Riesgraf (Bob); his grandchildren, Sarah Christopherson (John), Matthew Welter (Lexie), Andromakhe, Elijah, Isaac Harveaux, Alec Pauly and Tara Riesgraf; and his siblings, Richard Welter, Robert Welter, Dennis Welter, Leo Welter (Margaret), Gratian Welter (Judy), Bernadette Schmidt, Marlene Stang, Mary Anne Flesner and Arnella Koenig (Jerry).
