He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Olson and Ruby Olson (Judd); his wife Ardella C. Walkner; his son Roger; and his brothers, Clarence and Frederick.

He is survived by: his son Dale Olson (Rhonda) of Mpls, MN; his grandchildren, Holly Sigsworth, Calvin Olson, JoyLynn Bixler, Ryan Olson, Monica Olson, Devon Olson and Mayo Olson; his great grandchildren, Hunter Bixler, Jack Sigsworth and Lily Bixler; his daughter-in-law Pam Breyl; and his brothers, Russell and Melvin Olson of Albert Lea.
