He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Petersen and Anna Petersen; his mother-in-law Lilian; and his brothers, Marlin (Pete) and Daniel (Mike).

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Cisewski; his sons, Mike (Amy Petersen), Scott (Tara Petersen), Jon (Kennie Petersen), Quinn (Calvin), Noah, LilyAna (Nash) and Finn of Austin, TX; his siblings, Mary Schwenke (Kim) of Prior Lake, MN and Bob (Carol) of Mantorville, MN; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Petersen of Highlands Ranch, CO and Joy Barclay of Bemidji, MN. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, those so inclined are asked to send donations to either (i) The Orrie Jirele Scholarship Fund, or (ii) The Ryan Moore Scholarship Fund. Donations to either fund may be sent to P.O. Box 828; Albert Lea, MN 56007.
