He was predeceased by: his parents, Laura Nielsen (Andersen) and Kristin Nielsen; and his wife Gertie. He is survived by: his children, Karen Bangert (Mark), Jim Nielsen, Wayne Nielsen (Karen) and Dan Nielsen (Karla); and his grandchildren, Jackie Bangert, Jake Bangert (Carrie), Cody Nielsen (Kamyn), Shelby Nielsen, Cole Nielsen (Brittney), Jordan Nielsen and Lauren Nielsen.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Bonnerup Funeral Service - Albert Lea (2210 E Main St, Albert Lea, MN 56007). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at the Graceland Cemetery (1800 W Main St, Albert Lea, MN 56007).
