He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerome Winkler and Jeanette Winkler (Wrobel); and his sister Pat Chvatal. He is survived by: his sisters, Sue Katzner (Joe), Janet Wiener, Peggy Kahnke (Larry), Mary Wentland (Don) and Lynn Palmersheim (Marty); and his brother-in-law Dan Chvatal. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
