He was predeceased by: his siblings, Howard Leeuw, Emerson Leeuw, Dorothy and Ivan Leeuw; his sister-in-law Mary Leeuw; his sister Mary Ann; and his brothers-in-law, Burdette VanderKolk and Paul DeGraaf.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Leeuw; his children, Jeff and Sherri Dickman; his grandchildren, Jodi, Justin Sterenberg, Jason Leeuw (Kari Niethammer), Jilynn, Matt Koomen, Jennifer, Kevin Osbeck and Ross Dickman; his great grandchildren, Makenna Koomen and Kasen Osbeck; his siblings, Norma VanderKolk and Marvin Leeuw; and his siblings-in-law, Shirley DeGraaf, Carol and Richard.

Memorial contributions may be given in Vernon's honor to the American Heart Association.
