She was predeceased by: her son Scott VanHoven; and her husband Dennis Wyngarden. She is survived by: her former husband Don VanHoven; her sons, Mark VanHoven (Christy) and Chris VanHoven (Lisa); and her grandchildren, Seth VanHoven (Erika), Erin Marie Root (Dan), Eric VanHoven (Christine), Amy Wolters (Jon), Lydia VanHoven-Cook (Mike), Francie Gleason (George) and Grace VanHoven-McLary (Kevin).

Memorial contributions in Sylvia's honor may be given to Spectrum Hospice.
