He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan Ruffner and Mary Ruffner; his father-in-law Paul Smith; and his brother-in-law Tom Smith. He is survived by: his wife Karen Smith; his grandchildren, Anna, Kurt Lehnert, Chris and Katie Ruffner; his siblings, Jan and Eric; and his parents-in-law, Pat Smith, Chris Montgomery, Sharon Baker, Phil, Beth Smith and Nancy Tratham. He is also survived by many extended family and friends.
