He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn. He is survived by: his children, Jack Otten, Barb Plockmeyer (Ed), Deb Austin (Rick) and Sandy Venlet (Jim); his stepchildren, Chad Klungle (Faith) and Camille Klungle; his sister Betty; and his parents-in-law, Joan Otten, Ken Koning, Rose Bouma (George), Robert Geerlings (Linda), Ethel Steenwyk, Paul Geerlings (Jan), Evelyn Brouwer (Ron), Dave Geerlings (Linda) and Ruth Engelsman. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.
