He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Dongen and Elizabeth Van Dongen (Bosma); his wife Diane Frietchen; and his siblings, Dolores Van Dongen and Wayne Van Dongen (Charlene).
He is survived by: his brothers, Eugene Van Dongen (Barb) of Belmont, James Van Dongen (Deb) of Grand Rapids and Charles Van Dongen (Dawn) of Muskegon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
