He was predeceased by: his wife Arlene Hassevoort; and his son Jerry Hassevoort. He is survived by: his children, Dennis and Connie; his daughter-in-law Nancy Hassevoort; his grandchildren, Lisa, Rick Monroe, Tom, Tracy Dykstra, Melissa, Tim VanderKooi, Derek Hassevoort, Bradley, Holly Hassevoort, Kelsey Hassevoort, Ryan, Leah Aalderink, Jennifer and Blake Wiltzer; his siblings, Ron, Gord and Shirley; and his sister-in-law Toots Hassevoort. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be given in Elmer's honor to Hospice of Holland.
