He was predeceased by: his parents, William C. Kavanagh and Emily B. Kavanagh (Gleason); his daughter Tamra Reppert; his grandson David McConnel; his sisters-in-law, Shirley and Linda Kavanagh; and his nephews, B. Joe and Tommy Kavanagh.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Avis; his children, Peter Jr., Tamara and Laura McConnell (Ellwood); his grandchildren, Danielle, Corrine (Ean), Kayla (Justin), Hayley (Colten), Leah (Tanner), James (Heather), Angie (Dave) and Heather; and his brothers, Bill, Jack (Barb), Tom (Shari), Jim, Larry (Judy) and Mike Kavanagh. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
