He was predeceased by: his spouse Reberta Owens; his parents, James Owens and Lois Owens; his siblings, Roy Owens, Jimmy Owens, Benjamin Owens and June Burr; and his son-in-law Richard Smigielski.
He is survived by: his children, Melissa Smigielski, Melanie Lucas (Steve), Melvin Owens (Lori) and Paula Chinavare (Keith); and his grandchildren, Michael Smigielski, Timothy Owens, Emily Wise, Adam Smigielski, Rosanne Johnson, Amy Davis, Keith Chinavare Jr., Austin Lucas, Paige Chinavare, Adeline Chinavare and Shiloh Chinavare. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
