He is survived by: his wife Katheryn Willene Carmichael; his children, Stephen L. Carmichael and Ruth D. Burkhard (Scott); his grandchildren, Daniel Burkhard (Sarah), Jonathan Burkhard (Stephanie), Amy Carmichael, Ashley Evancho (Nick) and Abby Carmichael; and his brother-in-law David Estep (Christine). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
