He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Sumeren and Irene Van Sumeren (Nowacyzk); and his siblings, Joanne Richter (Wayne), Richard Van Sumeren (Sandra) and Roy Van Sumeren (Harriet).
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Cook; his children, Tracy Van Sumeren (David Meisel), Kurt Van Sumeren and Hans Van Sumeren (Larisa Galnares); his granddaughter Ava; and his sister Colleen Turmell (Joseph). He is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
