He is survived by: his significant other Kathleen Dawson; his sons, Jerry Jr. (Wendy), Brian (Lori), Jim (Marcia) and Howard (Jessica); and his stepchildren, Kristen Papalexis (George), Jenny Smith (Mike) and Eric Dawson. He is also survived by his 18 grandkids.

“I've known Jerry Sr for many years . Him and my dad were very close friends . Jerry wound come over to our house and he would help my dad work on his drag car and when my dad stared racing stock cars he helped on them to . he was very smart when it came to working on cars . he was also a good father and friend he gave me a lot of advise ever since I was young I respected him very much and appreciated his friendship .
