She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Hain and Laura Hain (Loehr); and her daughter Merrie Schmiege. She is survived by: her husband Donald Schmiege; her children, William Schmiege (Jean) and Kathy Schmiege; her grandchildren, Jessica Fisher (Frank), Christopher Schmiege (Heather), Rachele Schmiege (Stefan Barner), Elizabeth Wright and Diane Davis (Alvin); her great grandchildren, Jade, Silas, Larry (Rhi), Landon, Arianna and Donavin; and her brother Charlie Hain (Barbara).
