He is survived by: his wife Katherine Ayer; his children, John Charles Ayer, Ronald David Ayer (Lisa Ciesielski) and Glenn William Ayer; his grandchild Karly Humphrey (Nick); his siblings, Gerald Ayer (Beverly), Patricia Myer, Robert Ayer, Sharon Nagel (Mike) and Sari Ayer; and his sister-in-law Marsha Ayer.
