He was predeceased by: his son Scott M. Shafer; his parents, Howard Erwin Shafer and Stella Shafer (Carr); his uncle Harrold Shafer; his stepbrothers, Glen "Buck" Merriman (JoAnn) and Allan "Butch" Merriman (Betty); and his stepmother Yvonne Burch.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Shafer (Hodges) of White Cloud, MI; his daughters, Kristi Dorman (Dean) and Teresa Fountain (Brian); and his stepdaughters, Beverly Hadley and Karen Nichols. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (965 E Newell St, White Cloud, MI 49349). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
The Shafer family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Rescue Garden for Animals, Inc, in Howard's memory.
