He was predeceased by: his parents, George Schmitt and Marian Schmitt (Koenigsknecht); his siblings, Jerome Schmitt, Leon Schmitt (Neva), Joseph Schmitt (Helen), John Schmitt, Helen Krouse and Mary Ann Allen (Theron); his brothers-in-law, Gerald Patterson and Philip Spitzley; and his parents-in-law, Harold and Margaret Fedewa.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Schmitt (Simon); his children, Robert Schmitt (Karen), Glen Schmitt (Kathy), Dale Schmitt (Stacy), Scott Schmitt (Beverly), Doug Schmitt (Annette) and Cindy Thelen (Glen); his siblings, Reynold Schmitt (Florence), Theresa Patterson and Germaine Schmitt; and his sisters-in-law, Maria Schmitt and Sandra Spitzley. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
