He is survived by: his children, Liz Simon (Tim), Robert Schmitt and Don Schmitt; his grandchildren, Brian Platte (Jill), Kiel Platte (Kayla) and Evan Platte (Izzy); his great grandchildren, Lydia, Aubrey, Edie, Weston, Greta and Henry; and his siblings, Mary Trierweiler (Ronald), Harold Schmitt (Mary Lou), Anna Feldpausch and Martha Williams (Ted).
