She was predeceased by: her parents, Hilary Snitgen and Bernita Snitgen (Simon); her husband Herman; her children, Audrey and Danny Thelen; her sons-in-law, Bruce Thelen and Tom Wilson; her siblings, Dorothea Smith (Melvin), Eileen Spitzley (Edward), Frederick Snitgen and Larry Snitgen; and her brother-in-law Donald Thelen.

She is survived by: her children, Kathleen Bierstetel (Paul), Susan Pohl (Roger), John E. Thelen, Andrea Wilson, Thomas Thelen (Kim), Patrick Thelen (Denise), Maureen Thelen and Neil Thelen (Julie); and her sister Therese Thelen. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren and an great great grandson.
