He was predeceased by: his former wife JoAnn; his son Timothy; and his brother Milton. He is survived by: his wife Dolores Smith-Matteson of Flint; his daughter Teresa Strong; his stepson Michael Soring (Sandra) of Copper City; his grandchildren, Dawn Haines and Michael Haines; his great grandchildren, Aiden and Connor; his brothers, James Matteson (Norma) and Dwight Matteson (Joyce); and his stepchildren, Kathryn Dolan, Sandra Josling (David), David Smith, Lori Miller and Joseph Smith. He is also survived by many step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.
