He was predeceased by: his sibling Beverly Skilken; and his parents, Mary Stern and Samuel Stern. He is survived by: his children, Gayle Eubanks (Gary) and Jeremy Stern (Hildy); his grandchildren, Dr. Emily Abbott (Ryan), Noah Eubanks (Kim Anderle), Joshua Stern, Ari Stern, Eban Stern and Seth Stern; his great grandchildren, Connor, Cleo, Lily, Oliver and Awa; his brother-in-law Dr. Irving K. Arenberg; and his wife Jessie K. Stern. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Shelly believed strongly in giving back to his community and was dedicated to tzedakah (charity) and tikkun olam ("to heal the world").
