He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Smith and Rebecca Smith; and his sisters, Corine, Sherrill and Carlyon Fay.

He is survived by: his children, Marcus Smith, James Smith (Rhonda), Marvin Smith (Lisa), Oscar Smith (Brandy), Amanda Whiting (David), Kathrine Caporossi (Tony) and Jordan Smith; and his siblings, Rondal, Harold (Debbie), Jody (Kristine), Michael (Shannon), Terry (Billie), Anna Mae (Sonny), Cledia (Roger) and Sally Janett. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.
