With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joyce Marilyn Thompson of Waterford, Michigan, born in Walled Lake, Michigan, who passed away on June 16, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Leetha Phelps and James Phelps; her close friend Clifford Smith; her former life partner Donald Thompson; her son Donald Wesley Thompson; her grandson Daniel Norton; and her sisters, Phyllis Devellis, Verna Klos, Wilma Aldred and Charlotte Phelps.

She is survived by : her daughters, Joyce Norton (Todd), Lori Jermalowicz (Brian), Lucinda Klein (John), Cecile Studebaker (Samuel) and Cherroll Peters (Steve); her daughter-in-law Colleen Thompson; her sister Shirley Burger; and her close friend Tiffany Smith. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 19th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, June 20th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Coats Funeral Home (8909 Dixie Hwy, City of the Village of Clarkston, MI 48348). A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 20th 2024 at 9:30 AM at the same location.

Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to Residential Hospice or Waterford Senior Center to benefit the Encore Program.
