He is survived by: his children, Keith Cowan (Julie), Julie Strika (Steven) and Bradley Cowan (Shannon); his grandchildren, Sarah Melton (Christopher), Daniel Cowan (Amelia), Adam Cowan (Megan Pietrzyk), Allison Plakmeyer (Sam), Lindsay Cowan (Devin Phelps), Rhett Strika (Cynthia), John Strika and Ezekiel "Zeke" Plakmeyer; his brother-in-law Ruben Gonzalez; and his friend Mel.
