He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Carl Joseph Smith Sr. and Joan Smith; his wife Carol Alford-Smith; his grandchildren, Chelsea Sanday (Zach), Cory Chalou, Reiken Smith and Audrina Smith; his great grandchild Rowen Sanday; and his siblings, Carla Rocker (Calvin), Linda Balester (late Robert), Gwen Randazzo (Jim), Cindy Weigand (Mark), Denise Smith, Joseph Smith (Susan) and Annette Poma. He was also cherished by many loving extended family members and friends.
