He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Oscar Jurmu and Eva Jurmu (Pekkola); his siblings, Joyce and Bernard; his mother-in-law Helia Backman; his siblings-in-law, Henry "Hank" and Suzanne Backman; and his nephew Mark.
He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Backman; his children, John A. (Cheryl), Dennis, Joe and Debra; his grandchildren, Sabrina Spets (Matt) and John O.; his great grandchildren, Danika of Weston, Sawyer of Weston and Grady Spets of Weston; his siblings, Eva Urso, June Rado, Russell (Audrey) and David (Rae); his nephews, Daniel and Duane Hongisto; and his friends, Glen Mattson and Thane Peterson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
