He was predeceased by: his parents, Max Hughey and Violet Hughey (Huntington); his wife Barbara; his sister Nancy; his brother-in-law Ron Blanchard; his stepbrother Fred Sanderson; and his stepmother June Hughey.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Ryan Hughey, Allen Hughey (Dannette) of Scotts, Erica Vanderpool (Zak) of Plainwell, David Hughey of Portage, Nicholas Peterson (Jordin) of Scotts, Kati Roberts (Matthew) of Saline and Jared Peterson (Dori Mulder) of Schoolcraft; his great grandchildren, Delilah, Daisy, Emmett, Aletheia, Nathaneal, Peter and Lucy; and his stepbrother Marvin Sanderson (Gloria) of Mendon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
