He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos McClain and Kathleen McClain (Fiero); his wife Beverly Sue; his son John McClain; his stepdaughter Cindy Lyons; his granddaughter Jennifer McClain; his stepgranddaughter Bobbi Jo Lyons; and his siblings, Dennis (Angela) and Marion Sue Farrier (Myron).

He is survived by: his daughters, Patricia Bellingar (Mike), Denise Stegehuis (Steve) and Pamela McClain (Dick Ebers); his stepchildren, Joe Kirchmeier (Lori) and Joni Kirchmeier (Lee Staggemeier); his grandchildren, Jesseka Reisenbeck (Brian), Jarrod Bloomfield (Kerryn), Julia Bloomfield, Ben Lyons, Brian Lyons (Heather), Chadd Kirchmeier, Natasha Kirchmeier and Alex Kirchmeier; his great grandchildren, Monica Dillingham and Ryder Tovey; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Savannah, Haley and Brice Isenhath; and his brothers, Mike (Sara), Roy (Nancy) and James (Anne).
