He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bender and Coral Bender (Viele); his grandparents, Wesley, Evelyn Viele, Adelia and Ernest Bender; and his mother-in-law Sharon Sutherland.
He is survived by: his wife Julie Sutherland; his children, Allison Ellison (Gregory), Molly Ralph (Nick) and Maxwell Bender (Alissa); and his granddaughters, Reagan, Aria, Maggie and Baby Boy Ralph.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Luke's Lutheran Church or to Julie Bender for the establishment of a future music scholarship.
