He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph and Azell Evans, Sr.; and his siblings, Virgil L. Evans, Sr., Chester Evans and Delores Evans.
He is survived by: his sons, Ricky Evans (Teresa) of Cassopolis, Joseph Evans, III of Chicago and James Ladd (Lisa) of Dallas, Texas; his siblings, Rosalie Puckett of Vandalia, Dorothy J. Smith of Vandalia and James G. Evans of Dayton, Ohio; and his nephew Lawrence Denard Croom of Vandalia. He is also survived by seven granddaughters; four grandsons; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
