He was predeceased by: his parents, Orson Kempton and Ethel Kempton (Doolittle); his wife Alice Kempton; his son-in-law Alan Copas; and his siblings, Kenneth Kempton, Asa Kempton, Janie Smith and Alva Kempton.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Kempton (Bonnie) of Union City, Deborah Bowers (Carl) of Jones, Dawn Copas of Tekonsha, David Kempton of Boonesboro, MD, Denise Lawhead (Steven) of Boonesboro, MD and Douglas Kempton (Meg) of Detroit; and his brother Alvin Kempton of Tekonsha. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
